A few months ago, amidst this unfortunate COVID-19 pandemic, our own Dr. Greg Rose kicked off an initiative to satisfy a need for our members to remain safe and comply with local health requirements of wearing a non-medical mask while in public. A secondary goal of fundraising, was quickly established to raise funds for the Barrhaven Food Cupboard and our own Son’s & Daughter’s Fund.
Not sure what Greg was thinking, as he was more than busy with his primary job as Chair of Infection Control at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, so the Executive Board were sympathetic and took the reins for him. When all was said and done, we sold 392 masks (still 8 youth for sale – BTW) and raised just over $1200.00.
Today, Club President John Dingwall had the pleasure of presenting a $600.00 donation (and a slick mask) to the incoming President of the Barrhaven Food Cupboard, George MacDonald. The remainder of the funds will be added to the Son’s & Daughter’s Fund. For more information on this fund, please visit “Financial Assistance” under the Parental Resources drop down.
