The 2015 season got off to a great start overall with both Senior Men’s and the defending champion Senior Women’s team kicking off on Saturday, the Old Boy’s hit the pitch on Sunday.
The Senior Men’s team welcomed the Kingston Panthers RFC on Saturday for two matches between the 1st and 2nd team. The 2nd’s teams kicked off at 1:30pm at Twin Elm Rugby Park with the Scottish coming out victorious 36 – 17.
The 1st team followed suit hitting the pitch next with kick off at 3:00pm. The Panthers showed some precision passing taking the game 34-15.
The Women Super League defending champions stepped on the field mid afternoon to challenge the visiting Saint Lambert Locks RC. The Locks who were recently promoted from third division battled hard and never gave up. If the post match social scene was evidence their spirits had not been dampened by the match results. The Scottish women passed, rushed, hit and scored their way to 85-3.
On Sunday the Scottish Old Boy’s along with the Ottawa Indians RFC, Bytown Blues RFC and the Ottawa Senators RC took part in a impromptu round robin with the match commencing at 1:30pm at Twin Elm Rugby Park. The great weather combined with the excellent rugby camaraderie amongst all the Ottawa clubs proved to be the recipe for a successful day on the field.
