We are tremendously lucky to have fabulous coaches at all age groups and I would like to say a huge thank you to Barb, Tamara, Nick, Adam, Jason, Colin, Drew, Ben, Martin, Jo, John, Mike, Trevor, Jason, Harry, David, Lewis, Sharon, Isha, Arjan, Ami, Royce, Scott, Stephanie, John, Steve, Erin, Jamieson (JD), Terrilyn, Jesse, Eduardo, Scott, Ian, Ruwan, Eugene, Jenna, Carl, Sean, Elena, Naomi and Katie.

If you get the chance this week, reach out in person or online and tag #ThanksCoach so we can recognize everyone who makes the club run so amazingly well. Also if you would like to join this incredible crew, we are looking for coaches for next season in a number of age groups, if you would like to volunteer or ask more questions about what is required please reach out to Sharon Priestman at coachingdevelopment@barrhavenscottish.com.

Team Updates

This week all the U14, U16 and U18 boys and girls attended the Whitetail 7s hosted by the Lanark Highlanders. It was a great event and all of the teams excelled in their age groups, well done to all who took part. On Saturday:

  • On Saturday, U14 boys had a nail biting last match to end a close 2nd to Bytown Blues.
  • U16 boys had a similar last match against the Blues and also came 2nd.
  • U18 boys had a strong tournament winning all their games until the last game when Peterborough came out on top.
  • And Sunday, the girls turn. U18 had their first 7s tournament and were a dominant force going 4-0 and winning their age group.
  • U16 continued their 7s run and won convincingly scoring 111 points with only 5 against. What a performance.
  • U14 came a very close 2nd in their first tournament of the year and showed great teamwork throughout.
  • U16 girls also travelled to Oakville, coming 6th in a challenging competition.
  • U16 boys travelled to Aurora coming 2nd in that tournament.

These were the first 7s games for many of these players and I am really proud of how they represented the club across the province and showed we are a strong contender at every age group.

Congratulation also, to all our players who are playing for their university or college, I am really enjoying following the team listings and seeing BSRFC represented so well. Special congratulations go to Will Wright (RMC) and Grace Dingwall (uOttawa) who were named as players of the week, what a tremendous start!
