The Scottish had a full day of rugby on Saturday with some highlights, some definite lowlights and some in betweens.

June 20th in Kingston we saw the Barrhaven Scottish U12 run the table 8 – 0 at our 1st tournament of the season.

With seventeen confirmed players we entered two sides. John Dingwall and Stephen Millar lead the Barrhaven A side to victories over three Kingston sides and the dreaded Indians.

Coach Lem , along with Emily Moore and Jaden Lairson sponsored the Barrhaven B sides The B sides also ran the table on three Kingston sides and the Irish.

The Scottish ran the ball hard at their opponents and the parents and coaching staff were surprised by the maturity and decision making of our young athletes.

This year we have 50% returning players and as many 1st time players and every person made an impact on the four games. Congratulations Scottish and we look forward to backing this up next weekend at the Bytown Blues Tournament.

The Barrhaven Scottish Senior women entered Saturday undefeated on the season, but knew they would be in tough against a scrappy St. Anne de Bellevue squad. Perfection will have to wait for another year as they lost in a tight battle ultimately falling 34-20.

Special Mention should go out to our very own Natasha Smith, who will be representing the Scottish and Canada in Alberta, as she has been selected as a member of the national women’s 15 team in the Super Series.

The Men’s 1sts and 2nds took the drive down the 417 to the 40 in Quebec to face Rugby Montreal Squad Parc Olympique.
Parc O was clearly the experienced squad and took advantage of the 2nds who were missing a few players in the pack, replacements tried in earnest to hold the fort playing out of position, but ultimately fell by an extensive margin. Final Score Montreal-61 Barrhaven Scottish-0

The Scottish 1st squad also took it on the chin, they did manage to get into the end zone, but showed a deficit in experience. Despite the drubbing; final score 56-7, the Scotts battled for the entire game, and with a good core of young athletes do have a solid foundation for the future.
