Yesterday was a very busy day for the clubs. In the morning, the coaches had their annual meeting in which Colin took them through all the preparations for the year. It really is wonderful to see so many dedicated volunteers and it is also special to see new, young coaches start on their journey and to know they took inspiration from the coaches they had. I am also delighted to see a number of members have signed up for the Match Official L1 training course as good referees are always welcome.

In the afternoon, we welcomed 32 young people ranging from U6-U18 to the Try Rugby Day. I am always so delighted to see all the new faces who are excited to try a new sport and are full of nervous energy. Thank you to everyone who brought a friend, a neighbour, a sibling and thank you to all the existing players and coaches for providing such a welcoming environment for the club.

This week sees a number of our members join teams from across Ontario as they journey to Florida for the Tampa 7s. We wish everyone good luck and look forward to watching all the games.

Next week also sees a number of our senior men take part in the first round of the EORU interbranch competition against NRU at Trent University. Good luck to all.

Spond Update

I know that change is hard and that some people are reluctant to move to a new platform but I can reassure you that the executive and a number of coaches have done a comprehensive review and are confident that it will provide the communication tool that we need. We ask that you do the following to make the transition as smooth as possible.

  1. All teams have been populated in Spond, please check and accept your invitation from Spond and check your personal details – if you do not have the invite please check spam folder or reach out to John (equipmentmanager@barrhavenscottish.com).
  2. Please download the Spond app.
  3. This will be the last week we use Teamsnap and will convert completely to Spond by April 5th.

Registration

Just a reminder, registration is open and is required to take part in any training activities. If you registered last year, your membership is still valid but will expire at the end of April. If you are new to the club you must register before playing as it is for insurance purposes. Please use this link to register and if you have any issues please contact registration@barrhavenscottish.com, and Ross will be able to support. Pre-Season Training Times

We have 2 more weeks in the dome before we move to our turf/grass season. Your coaches will update with changes so keep an eye on future events and locations.

    Have a great week everyone,
    Anne
