The Barrhaven Scottish were received by the Honourable Michael Darville, Minister of Grand Bahamas in his Freeport Office on Friday April 24th. Mr. Darville then joined the Scottish and their hosts from the Freeport Rugby Football Club at their pitch.
The Scottish were given the opportunity to speak with local media to generate interest in their upcoming match against the Freeport Rugby Football Club http://rugbyfootballbahamas.com
Grand Bahama has taken strides recently to promote sport and sports tourism and the Scottish in their second year touring the island are looking forward to help with this. Activities included a ceremonial tree planting to club founder Sir Jack Hayward http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Hayward
the inclusion and introduction of local youth to the sport in on field duties, and a charity bike ride which is a major fundraiser through the club for many of these same youth.
A great tour was had, and the Scottish could not be more appreciative of the reception and good will as well as terrific hospitality by the Bahamian Ministry, the Freeport Club and the locals and staff at the Grand Lucayan resort.
The Scottish were triumphant winning 2 try to 1, but really all involved won.
