This week Erin, Terrilyn, John and I had the pleasure of meeting some of the Canada Women’s rugby team who have been training at Oakfield Park, Lanark in preparation for their South Africa tour. We heard about their “Mission: Win Rugby World Cup,” which is a fundraising campaign to raise $100,0000 to support their bid for the 2025 Rugby World Cup title in England. To support the campaign, we, as a club, are donating the 15% of the proceeds of all tickets sold for the Canada vs USA game on August 1. If you haven’t bought your tickets there is still one day left so click on the link and come cheer for Canada https://www.gofevo.com/event/Barrhavenscottish6.
Team Updates
Good luck to the U16/U18 boys and girls who are part of the U17 EORU teams heading to Calgary to take part in the Stampede 7s.
Good luck also to Owen McDonell and Hunter Doucette from the Senior men who are heading to South Africa to join the Western Province International rugby academy.
Congratulations to Jack Priestman who was selected for the U19 Ontario team.
Well done to Matthew Lake, U16 boys, who performed on stage at the 2025 Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards ceremony with award-winning Canadian music producer, Ezrin. Matthew’s twin sister nominated Ezrin for the award and, as a result, the siblings were invited to be part of the performance at the ceremony.
