Since 2014 Ottawa and Freeport, Grand Bahama have built a terrific kinship in rugby through multiple friendly matches on the island between the Freeport Rugby Football Club and The Ottawa Old Boys with members from every local club.

September 2nd, 2019 Hurricane Dorian hit the island and left a path of destruction unlike any seen in the Caribbean and just three years after Hurricane Matthew had done immense damage to the tourist location, but even more damage to the way of life of Bahamians.

The Barrhaven Scottish with support from the grander Ottawa Rugby Community is pitching in to raise much needed funds for disaster recovery on Grand Bahama.

All funds raised will be earmarked for reconstruction of the rugby club facilities, which acts as more than just the epicentre for athletic activity but truly a hub and safe haven for all local youth. The Freeport Rugby Football club also supports initiatives on behalf of The Bahamas children home, who will benefit from reinvigorated facilities and direct donation of funds beyond the initial funding goal.
